Well im getting a double din and also planning on changing the rear speakers, and i wanted to ask around how much would the installation labor should be so i dont get ripped? Also i am aiming at ALPINE for 6x9 speakers but dont know if thats the best brand or not. Which is the far best 6x9 speaker for the back of my Lex? i would like the speakers to be better than the stock ones and also if they could give more BASS it would help.
THANKS

the stock speakers are decent if you ask me. I ran a car audio shop for 5yrs... i recommend changing out the front speakers before the rear speakers, becuae that's usually where you are sitting listening to the sound, right? unless your crazy tall and drive from the backseat. get a good set of components up front, possibly a small amp to run them, and your headunit. otherwise, just get the new headunit, tie it into the stock speakers, and see how it is. i be you'll be pleasantly surprised. mainly becuase your new afterrmarket headunit is going to produce cleaner sound, so by sending a better signal to your speakers (even stock ones) will usually sound better to you anyways.
good luck.

well, the reason i am getting new rear speakers rather than front, is one cuz they are 2ohm and i read that the new units require 4ohm in order to make it easier to install. And personally, i dont intend going extreme on sound. I honestly just want a indash tv lol but in MY.is people are telling me that since my IS is an 01 then more labor work has to be done even with a metra wire harness in order to bypass the stock amp and stuff.

hence why i said just get the amp and new speakers with ur headunit ;)
You dont have to go crazy like the rest of us u can put in 2 10" subs for bass a nice headunit and some low priced speakers with an amp for cheap.
just ur luck i am selling 2 10" jl audio subs for cheap ;):lol2::cool:

not many aftermarket 6x9s will give you more bass than stock. the stock speakers have a lot of bass with the factory amp.
still not sure why you have to bypass only the rear speakers on a 01. why wont that harness work and i know metra makes another harness that might work with your car rather than the toy01 i forget the model but i know circuit city sells it. and its only $20

welcome to the wonderful endless money-pit.
if you want to do things right, you'll plan on changing out the amp, front speakers, rear speakers, head unit, and the wiring...all in one shot. the reason is because the stock amp and speakers are a pain in the butt to working with after market ones, and for that much work, you might as well put in better hardware.
my mistake was that i bought the speakers/wires before i got everything else, and so after putting them in, i was driving around without radio for like 2 weeks before i broke down and bought the new head unit.
if you're strapped for cash, then save up and wait. take care of the thing in one or two weekends. oh yeah, and make sure all your hardware clear the windows/torsion bars.

if your looking for bass i would say which every speaker you get should be 3-way as it has bass mids and hights.

My infinity Kappas put out some solid bass, but I run a 10" sub, so I have the high pass filter going to all my speakers. When I turn off the HPF though, they're pretty damn impressive.
