More details to come, but suffice it to say that this place sucks. Unfortunately, they are an allstate proshop, which I'll be working on changing as I can.
My car underwent some transformations, as well as some repairs from over the winter. When I went for the estimate, they told me that I needed to schedule an estimate appt. Fine. I called off the rental car I had on the way because they would not fit me in.
Once I came back and the estimate was complete, they told me that they would begin ordering parts once Allstate authorized the work order, and that once all the parts were in, they would call and have me bring in the car.
3 weeks of not hearing anything back from them, I gave them a call. I waited so long because I knew how long it takes for some parts to arrive. I talk to Mike, and he tells me that they were waiting on ME to okay the work. I brought my car there to get the work done, that's why I gave them claim numbers and all that stuff. As a prop shop, I don't have to deal with the hassle of going to a Allstate estimate center, and then have my chosen body shop argue with them about repair costs and supplements. Allstate prop shops are authorized and are there to bypass that intermediate step.
I brought in the car, and told Mike again that I'm very picky, and I have a rental car, so take as much time as you need to get it done PERFECT. He gave me 1 or 2 status calls, which was about the only good thing about this entire process.
I got a call after a week or so, and asked Mike if he got my email about clearing the hood. He gave me this story about how you can't clear hoods and he went to PPG school this that and whatever. He said the sanding marks would show up in the clear. I told him my buddy did it, and he suggested that my buddy lied to me, and then suggested maybe he re-gelcoated it. I couldn't believe I was having this conversation. It's my car, you do whatever I tell you, and if the hood was cleared when you got it, the hood should be cleared when it leaves. Period. Actually insinuated my buddy was lying. I was there when he was prepping it.
A few weeks later, I get a call saying the car was complete, and to come pick it up. The next day, I arrive to pick up the car. While waiting for the paperwork, another man comes in with the same idea I did when I first walked in. Had a rental coming, thought he'd jus tswing by and get an estimate. The ygave him the same explanation as me, only at the end, the girl said they would sneak him in really quick. I COULD NOT BELIEVE IT. Right in front of someone they won't not offer that courtesy 3-4 weeks ago. I was upset.
So I get my keys and paperwork, and walk out to my car. It was covered in snow from the night before, but everything looked okay based on my quick visual assessment. This is the point where things get bad. Brushing off the car, I relaized that the cowl had not been replaced, and neither had one of the wipers. They had told me that they were still waiting on parts.
My view is, if you're waiting on parts, then my car is NOT DONE. Yet I get a call saying it's complete. What they should have said was "Your car is driveable, please move it from our facility so we have more space."
The next day on my way to work, I hit a small bump, but it sounds like I hit a crater. I pull in to get gas, and decided to check the tire pressure. I have a race gauge with a bleeder on it, the gauge didn't even budge when I put it on the air cap. As a courtesy, they checked my oil level, my coolant level, and my lights, but not tire pressure. Wow. I refilled it, and was on my way. I haven't lost tire pressure since, so who knows what happened there. I still need to inspect that tire.
As it got nicer, I decided to swap in my CF sidemarkers. It was at this point that I realized why I was rubbing the fender liner, it was never installed right. I still need to go to the parents house and heat gun it so that it fits. I originally had tires that were oversized, but they were replaced by regular fitting tires after the autocross season. So I pull the liner to get access to the sidemarkers. Grab my 10mm wrench, and was having a very hard time finding the nuts. It's because they weren't there. The ones installed were the clear ones, and they had the hardware for it, but apparently they had a hard time, because they GLUED MY SIDEMARKERS INTO A BRAND NEW BUMPER. They cut the bolts coming out of the sidemarker, and glued them in. I just about fell over.
Apparently new sidemarkers weren't in the repair order, so they improvised. Great work! I gave them the link, phone number and website to order a Seibon CF OE hood. I popped my hood the other day to fix one of my halos, and staring me right in the face is a VIS serial plate. The hood looks great, even better than the last one, but it's not the right brand. It fits better too. One of few highlights amongst a sea of lowlights.
They had to order 3 different bumpers because the ones they ordered kept getting broken tabs. The worst part about this whole thing, I have the figsprops, I linked them to the black ones and made Mike aware that a shop would be ordering them... They ordered the SS ones off of ebay. I know it's a FIGs product, but they ordered off ebay. This to me is unacceptable.
There is evidence of cost cutting over this entire process, from the minute I asked for an estimate to the point I popped the hood on my car. They offered to install the parts that eventually came in, I told him no. I don't want them near my car in anyway shape or form. The reason is, just before I got there, I washed the car, and that was when I became aware of the overspray all over the car. The entire vehicle needs to be clay-bar'd and polished. It looks like primer, but I cannot tell. The last thing I want is more overspray.
This has been the worst experience around a vehicle I owned in my entire life, and I've already notified my agent to let him know what was up (he had no idea, and he recommended me). I found this was the second recent report of problems, so hopefully something is done about it. CCA has a lifetime warranty on their work, but I don't know what to do about that because I don't want them near my car.
To this day, I still don't know if I have clearcoat on my hood or not. Stay away from these people.
