View Full Version : Battery relocator kit
FIG,
What do you think of fabbing up a relocation bracket to house either an optima or odyssey battery? I was thinking of relocating my batter to the rear right corner of the Supra.
Perhaps this can be resold as a universal kit?
So like an aluminum base and use the bar as a top or more of a all enclosed version? I could do this out of aluminum pretty easy especially with the spool gun. Give me a better idea of what you are looking for and I can proto something up.

aight lemme get at you tomorrow.... nothing to expensive. Maybe like a cage or something. nothing solid to use up material.

im thinking base with a lip so battery doesnt slide, and a simple over the top bar with a 4 sided tie down. sort fo liek a ribbon wrapped around a present type thing, but make it look decent.
I like the concept of an aluminum bar wrapped "present" haha. I could add a notch to the existing bar and have the other bar interlock with it jenga style. I can make the base have a 0.25" lip to retain the battery. what kind of mounting holes in the base?

Reading up an Eddie marine, that is a pretty slick operation. In-house machining and lots of R and D. I picked up a ski boat last year and make have to take some cues from them. I would love to make a tubular header for my ford 351 :D
haha yea i was looking at a baja 23outlaw myself... and then in my more frugal moments consider buying my friends mid 90s 24foot formula with a 454 an supercharger.. lol just wish it wasnt so exspensive to change it over from white an teal to something better looking lol

Yeah I am more into wakeboarding, so I picked up a steel frame Ski Supreme. 1988 with a 351 in it. pretty standard but good shape and cheap. Its one of those...could use a little fix on everything but works well as is...projects.
lol yea those are fun ive gotten kinda lazy in my old age (26) to screw with stuff to much... with all the fiberglassing and custom work ive done and stereo installs in past i just dont have ambition to wanna do to much fixin on stuff.... friends boat would require new gauges, set of bolster seats up front full stereo :-) and few other things to modernize it..... its otherwise in perfect shape and also as u said cheap.... which is why i looked at that an not the baja lol.... like goin fast an something to stay night on are my 2 requirements...... not sure if it would have to much to intrest you but check out www.offshoreonly.com lots of stuff on there. more for the go fast scene but still good site
We'd have to pick a specific sized Optima battery and use that as a template. so the battery is held in snug.
I would like the option of mounting the drycell battery sideways too.

Yeah I can think of a few cool ideas for a side mount. They are designed to hold at the base sidewase, so that should be pretty easy.
Just get me a dimension I will hook ya up...I do not need much sleep :coffee:
aight cool ...Im gonna buy an optima yellow top this weekend :) I just been super busy at work man.

I'd like to mount my battery in the trunk. You could make some sort of cool mount thingy-ma-jigger I'm sure?...but cost might be high huh?? Although if I had my buddy tig one up for me it would like some sort of cool "FIGS" logo ;)
the trunk applications would just require a base mounting plate and one of my battery bars. I can come up with something.
